Your oldest may suddenly look so big beside the new baby-but they're still little too. Capturing them together preserves this fleeting season when one is becoming a big brother or sister and your family is finding its new rhythm.

It doesn't have to be perfect. Toddlers don't always want to sit still, smile, or hold the baby- and that's okay. Some of my favorite sibling images happen in the in-between moments: a curious peek, a tiny kiss, a hand reaching toward the baby, or a proud little smile.

What Should Siblings Wear?

Soft, neutral colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your children. Rather than matching perfectly, choose coordinating colors and simple textures that complement one another without competing for attention.

Big Siblings Matter, Too

Welcoming a new baby is a big transition for everyone, especially older siblings. I love making a little space during newborn sessions to focus on them, too. Letting them feel important and included often creates the sweetest interactions with their new baby.

More Than a Newborn Session

A newborn session isn't only about documenting your newest little one. It's about remembering what your whole family looked and felt like when everything changed-and preserving the beginning of their relationship that will grow for years to come.
